Heartfelt thanks from East Lothian family after puppy is reunited with owner

A puppy that went missing from East Lothian earlier this week has been safely reunited with her owner.

Maggie, a five-month-old cocker spaniel, ran off in Rigley Park, Prestonpans, on Tuesday after she was spooked by other dogs.

The puppy's devastated owner took to social media to help get her back and even set up a Facebook group called "help find Maggie", which now has over 1,500 members.

Despite fears that she may have been "picked up" by someone, it has emerged yesterday that the "timid" puppy is now safely back home.

Jennifer McIvor, took to social media on her aunt's behalf to thank locals for their help.

She said: "Maggie has been reunited with my auntie

"Don’t think she has even spent a night outside, so clean, not hungry and very very happy to see everyone. So whoever had her THANK YOU for leaving her in a safe place to be found, only a street away.

"As a family we cannot thank the community enough for all the searches and suggestions. The messages we have received is overwhelming. Prestonpans and beyond should be very proud!

"To the two young girls who found her, you are both special stars, who were brave enough to get her from the garden. EVERYONE is so proud of you.

"Here she is proud as punch to be home."
