Heartfelt thank you messages left on cars of Durham NHS workers fighting coronavirus by police

NHS workers were overjoyed when they returned to their cars from a long shift a County Durham hospital to find heartfelt thank you messages for their hard work in fighting coronavirus.

Staff were even more thrilled when they found out the messages from their fellow emergency workers in the police force.

Staff at Bishop Auckland Hospital found the printed notes clipped under their windscreen wipers.

The messages read: "To our wonderful NHS colleagues, We thank you for you hard work saving lives. We've got your back."

It was signed off: "From your friends at Bishop Auckland Police."
