‘Heartbroken’ Wilfried Bony opens up on Swansea City exit, why his family will stay there and the warning he has for the players

A 'heartbroken' Wilfried Bony has opened up on his departure from Swansea City.

The 30-year-old was released by the Swans after a second spell with the club that only delivered four goals in 25 appearances.

And in an interview with BBC Sport Wales , Bony revealed how he felt to be released by Swansea and the warning he has for the current bunch of players at the Liberty Stadium.

"I am bit heartbroken because we did not achieve what we wanted, but that is life," Bony said.

"The most important thing now is to recognise everything the club did for me and to look forward.

"I thank God I am alive and still on the pitch being able to play, and I wish Swansea the best for next season.

"They know what they have to do - to stay first in the Championship and then try to be part of the play-offs.

"There will be a lot of changes. The players need to be strong and work very hard."

Bony also revealed that his family will be staying in SA1 as they are "comfortable" in the city - regardless of whichever club he joins next.

And the Ivorian says he is looking at his next club being a Premier League one - adding: "I have the ability and the capacity to do that. That's my target."
