A Scots mum has been left ‘upset’ after a twisted vandal targeted the grave of her late daughter twice in just two days.
Police were called after the grieving parent discovered damage to a cherub ornament at the plot in Newhills Cemetery, Aberdeen, on Wednesday, August 4.
When she returned to the resting place just 48 hours later, she was devastated to discover another memento had been pulled out of the ground and broken.
A police investigation has been launched with officers appealing for help from the general public to catch the culprit.
A statement from Police Scotland said: “Officers from Bucksburn Community Policing Team are appealing for information after a grave was vandalised at Newhills Cemetery, on the Chapel of Stoneywood to Fairley Road in Aberdeen.
“On Wednesday, 4 August, a woman was visiting her daughter’s grave when she noticed that a cherub ornament had been damaged.
“When she attended the cemetery again on Friday, 6 August, she noticed another ornament had been pulled out of the ground and broken.
Constable Andrew Douglas added: “This heartless vandalism has upset the family involved and I would appeal to anyone with information regarding this matter to contact officers through 101 quoting reference 1114 of 7 August.”
