Heartbroken pals of tragic boxer launch Go Fund Me campaign to help with funeral

Friends of tragic George Dykes have launched a fundraising campaign to help with the costs of his funeral.

The 28-year-old boxer from Newmilns was found dead on Monday morning, and his best friend Jamie Smyth has started a Go Fund Me page, which can be found here.

Jamie said: "I'm raising money for my best friend George and his family.

"George was my third brother and will be missed by so many. Any little helps to ease this difficult time for us all.

George trained at Northwest Boxing Club in the town, and his coach Graeme Marshall paid tribute to him.

“George was an exceptionally well liked member of Northwest.

“He always gave nothing short of 100 per cent in training.

“He was a perfect role model for all the young boxers coming through who looked up to him.

“He was always very pleasant with lots of time for everyone and he was always willing to learn and improve.

“There is a massive hole in the hearts of Northwest Boxing Club at the moment.”

The Go Fund Me page can be found here.
