Heartbroken pal's plea for Rangers to hold minute's applause in memory of tragic teen goes viral

A plea for fans to remember a Rangers-daft teenager who died earlier this week with a minute's applause has gone viral on social media.

Connor Luke, 17, passed away suddenly after falling ill at a party in Muirpark Street in the Partick area of the city.

And social media users have been sharing a plea for the teen to be commemorated during the 17th minute of this weekend's Scottish Premiership clash between Rangers and Livingston at Ibrox.

A post on the "Call Yersel A Bankie' Facebook group from friend Allan Mcphie said: "Unfortunately heaven gained an angel yesterday. This is one of my best mates who passed away suddenly and he was 17 ,he was a Rangers fan through and through.

It's hoped the teen will be commemorated by the Ibrox faithful with a minute's applause on Saturday (SNS)

"Connor was a lovely boy who had a lot of energy and always had a smile on his face, this boy had his whole life ahead of him and I was thinking we could all try and get this (shared) around and have one minute (of) applause on the 17th min of the Livingston game on Saturday, as he would be over the moon if it happens."

The post, which features a picture of Connor when he was younger, has now been shared over 650 times on Facebook and has received over 500 reactions.

A number of users responded to the post with tributes.

Hazel Mirren posted: "Thinking of the family and the kids at this very sad time. Connor was an amazing boy and I will never forget all the happy times we had when we stayed in Hood St."

And Billy McKain wrote: "That's so sad. Much too young to leave this earth, condolences to his family and friends. I hope you get that minute's applause."
