Heartbroken mum's tribute to tragic Clydebank baby who fell to death from flat window

The mother of a Clydebank toddler killed after top floor flat fall named by police who died after falling from the window of a third-floor flat has paid a poignant tribute to her daughter.

Maureen Bergene posted a picture on Facebook of her late dad Knut with her little girl Clydebank toddler killed after top floor flat fall named by police.

The mum’s caption reads: “Forever my angels”.

Lexi suffered horrific injuries when she plunged from the tenement window in Clydebank on Wednesday afternoon.

She died later in Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children.

Maureen posted the snap of Lexi and her dad, who died aged 64 last June, on Friday.

Social media has been flooded with messages of support and condolence following the toddler’s death.

Deborah Cooper posted: “No words can ever express how sorry I am to hear about your heartbreaking loss, Maureen. My sincere condolences to you and all your family.”

Maggie Ferguson commented: “Words can’t express our sorrow for you all at this time, Maureen. Thoughts are with you all. Sleep tight little Lexi.”

Linda Gallacher wrote: “Maureen, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I can’t begin to understand what you are going through just now.

“Thoughts are with you at this devastating time.”

The Argyll and West Dunbartonshire Police’s Facebook post about Lexi’s death had more than 800 comments from well-wishers.

A witness last week told how he came across a scene of chaos after the toddler fell from the window of the flat on Dumbarton Road.

He said: “There was one woman in total hysteria. She couldn’t stop screaming and crying.”

A cordon was put up around the scene while police stood guard at the flats.

A top window was open and children’s toys could be seen in a black car within the cordon on the street below.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the family protection unit at Clydebank Police Station.
