Heartbroken mum pays tribute to her 'wee superstar' after teen daughter's tragic death

A heartbroken mum described her teenage daughter as “her wee superstar” following her tragic death.

Music-lover Aimee Louise Park passed away last week at her home in Newmains at the age of just 14.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the Coltness High pupil. Mum Helenrose Kyle said her ‘Lou’ lived for music, make-up and a wide circle of friends and family.

She said: “She loved to sing. She never had her earphones out of her ears.

“Her favourite singer was Lewis Capaldi. She had just started learning to play guitar and was doing very well.

“She had a song learned after the first three weeks. Music was a big part of her life.

“From when she was little she was so outgoing. It didn’t matter where she was she would always end up talking to someone.

“She made friends very easily. She loved spending time with her pals and everyone seemed to take a shine to her.

“She was my wee superstar. She really was one in a million.”

In honour of the former Morningside Primary pupil, Aimee Lou’s friends let off balloons on Braedale Hill earlier this week.

Aimee Lou, who has four sisters Stephanie, Natalie, Alexandra and Lillyrose, moved from Clyde Valley High to Coltness last year but that didn’t stop her from making a real impact among the teachers at her new school.

John McGilp, head teacher of Coltness High School, said: “We are absolutely devastated to hear this tragic news.

“Aimee Louise was a much-loved member of our school community with a close group of friends and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.”

Newmains councillor Robert McKendrick added: “This is a tragedy for the whole of Newmains and our thoughts are with the family.”

A JustGiving page has been set up to help in memory of Aimee Lou, which has already smashed its £700 target.
