The heartbroken mum of slain Limerick boxer Kevin Sheehy has opened up for the first time since her son's tragic death.
Grief-stricken Tracey Tully said she feels she has "died with him" and wishes God had taken her first.
She added: "I don’t know why he hasn’t. If a parent dies first, it’s hard for the child. But how do you go on in this case?
"I know I have other daughters to live for, and a granddaughter coming.
"But, at this moment in time, I feel my strength is gone. I’m trying to stay positive, and we are here chatting about him, and remember the positive things – that’s what he would want us to do.
"Part of me is not here. Myself and his father, Kevin Sr, are not together, but he is still my best friend. I know he has died with him too."
The five-time champion boxer was being primed as a potential Olympic prospect.
His mum Tracey also spoke of the young man's excitement over becoming a dad for the first time, as his fiance Emma Colbert is heavily pregnant with a baby girl.
She told the Limerick Leader: "It was just the way he spoke about it. He was so looking forward to it. He would be worrying about the future.
"He was only 20, and he was worried about getting a mortgage. I’d be like ‘don’t be worrying, you’re only 20’."
The 20-year-old was struck by a car on Hyde Road in Co Limerick on Monday, July 1.
