Heartbroken mum of schoolboy killed at Drumchapel building site pays poignant tribute to her lost son

The heartbroken mum of a young boy who died at a building site in Drumchapel has paid a poignant tribute to her lost son online.

Shea Ryan, 10, passed away last night after falling down a hole believed to be a drain, on the site at Glenkirk Drive.

The before the alarm was raised at around 10pm and he was rushed to hospital but sadly lost his life a short time later.

Devastated relatives and friends said 'hearts would be breaking' as tributes were paid to the 'kind and caring' boy.

Mum Joanna Douglas, also took to Facebook to express her heartache and said: "Sleep tight Shea. Forever in our hearts son."

Emergency services cordoned the road off last night as they worked to rescue the boy at the site where large-scale drainage work is under way.

Devastated neighbours watched on as he was pulled from the hole as it emerged locals had previously reported that they had noticed local children were sneaking off to play on the site during lockdown.

It is understood he was with a group of friends playing at the site when tragedy struck.

Work has been ongoing in the area near Kinfauns Drive as part of a £5million drainage project to help combat flooding with engineers also planning to realign Gardscadden Burn.

The site is being managed by Scottish Water.

One local who lives in the area said: “Kids have been down most nights jumping about the diggers, despite the fact a security guard patrols the site.

Joanna's tribute was among a flood of messages to appear on social media, with young Shea described as 'beautiful, kind and caring'.

One relative said: "Cant believe it, absolutely devastated, never in my life did I think that my beautiful, kind caring wee cousin would be sent to heaven at this time of year and age.
