'Heartbroken' man stood up after travelling three hours for first date in two years

A man looking for love embarked on a three-hour journey for his first date in two years - only to be stood-up and left "heartbroken".

TikTok users have tried to cheer up Craig Moffat, 21, who set out full of hope for a dinner date in Aberdeen only to find himself eating alone at the expensive looking restaurant.

His video has had over 4.6million views with over 20,000 comments and 700,000 likes.

Craig, dressed up in waistcoat and tie, splashed out on a first class train ticket as he headed out from his Edinburgh home for the 90 mile journey.

He made a TikTok video of his trip where he was hoping for a better outcome having said after two years he was “finally” going on a date.

Craig began excited at the prospect of going on the date and filmed himself on the train (@craig.moffat/TikTok)

‘I can’t wait, I’m so excited,’ he added, posting video of the countryside rolling by from the train window.

It wasn’t to be though sadly for Craig who arrived 20 minutes early at the restaurant and waited nervously for his date who never arrived.

“It’s been 35 minutes and she still hasn’t shown up,” he captioned a clip of himself looking downcast.

Craig was then forced to tuck in alone and he filmed himself having his meal followed by a few drinks.

Then he records himself forlornly at the station with the caption: “I guess I’ll just head home…I was really looking forward for tonight."

His messages including "Maybe it’s not time to get back out there just yet…" and “heartbroken” certainly appeared to have touched a few TikTok users who tried to cheer him up.

One person wrote: “She doesn’t deserve you mate, you’ll find the one.”

And another said: “I know you were excited but you’ve dodged someone that would make you really unhappy in the end. You deserve better."
