Heartbroken Man City fans rally behind Pep Guardiola's side following Champions League exit

Manchester City's Quadruple hopes are no more after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham Hotspur in dramatic circumstances.

City were in the hunt for glory on all fronts going into the game against Spurs, with the League Cup already wrapped up and the Premier League, FA Cup and European Cup all still up for grabs.

However, the away goals rule came as a bitter blow for the Blues as they were denied a spot in the last four despite drawing the two-legged tie 4-4 on aggregate.

The fact that City won 4-3 on the night will be scant consolation for Pep Guardiola, who has failed to get City beyond the quarter-finals of the competition in each of his three seasons in charge.

City could still end the season with three trophies and that would be their best-ever haul, but these Blues fans won't forget the pain of Wednesday night in a hurry:

Pep Guardiola has one regret after Man City Champions League exit

Heartbroken.

Typical City.

Time to regroup.

Drained.

Time for the away goals rule to be scrapped?

CTID.

Truly gutted.

We'll be back next year.
