Heartbroken Lanarkshire woman devastated after losing wedding ring in hospital

A heartbroken woman has been left devastated after losing her wedding ring during a short stint in hospital.

Natasha Jackson was admitted to University Hospital Monklands because of pain in her back.

Following an MRI scan, Natasha was told she was able to go home.

However, when she went into her bag she discovered her wedding band had disappeared.

And despite a frantic search the ring was nowhere to be found.

Natasha, who has been married for 18 years, said: “I’m devastated. To me my ring is priceless, so it’s heartbreaking to think I won’t get it back.

“I’ve called the hospital a few times since I was admitted on December 1 but I haven’t heard anything back from them.

“The ring was in my bag along with the rest of my jewellery when I got ready in an A&E cubicle at Monklands and the bag was with us when I went for the MRI due to the Sciatica in my back.”

Natasha, from Wishaw, and husband William remain hopeful of being reunited with the wedding band.

But the 39-year-old admits that hope is diminishing with each passing day.

She added: “Because of Covid, William wasn’t able to come in with me and take my bag.

“I keep calling the hospital to see if it has been handed into the lost and found but we’ve had no luck so far.”

An NHS Lanarkshire spokesperson said: “NHS Lanarkshire takes the issue of security at all of our premises very seriously.

“Our staff do their best to look after patients’ belongings and arrangements are in place to keep patients' personal items secure for the duration of their stay.

“If a patient has lost any item we would encourage them to contact our patient affairs department. Once staff are made aware of missing property, a rigorous search is carried out.”
