Heartbroken Irish community pay lovely tribute to 'beautiful' and 'brave' young woman

A heartbroken Irish community have paid a lovely tribute to a 'beautiful' and 'brave' young woman.

Síofra Collins from Moycullen, Co Galway, passed away in the care of the Oncology Ward in the Galway Clinic after bravely battling illness over the past ten months.

Tributes have poured in for the popular young Galway woman.

Moycullen Ladies Football Club posted on Facebook: "It is with heavy hearts that Cumann Peile na mBan Mhaigh Cuilinn learned of the sad passing of Síofra Collins.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Gabriel, Neasa, Cian and Jack, extended family and all of Síofra’s many friends at this difficult time.

"Her beautiful smile will be missed from Pairc Mhaigh Cuilinn but will never be forgotten. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dilís."

A notice of RIP.ie reads: "Peacefully in the unbelievable care of the Oncology Ward in the Galway Clinic after dealing with her illness in such a courageous and dignified manner over the past 10 months.

"Beloved daughter of her utterly heartbroken parents, Gabriel and Neasa and very precious sister of Cian and Jack.

"Very sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her adoring Nana Áine, her loving aunts and uncles, Maura, Gráinne, Brian, Sean, Donal, Paraic, Martin and Kevin, aunts-in-law, uncles-in-law, grandaunts, granduncles, extended family, neighbours and wonderful family friends.

"Very sadly missed also by her most beautiful and truly exceptional cousins and friends that she loved and treasured so much."

Cumann Peile Mhaigh Cuilinn posted on Facebook: "All of us at Cumann Peile Mhaigh Cuilinn are deeply saddened by the sad passing today of Síofra Collins.

"Our condolences are with Gabriel, Neasa, Cian and Jack, the extended family and all of Síofra’s many friends at this difficult time.

"She will be sadly missed by all. Solas na bhflaitheas agus leaba i measc na naomh duit, Síofra."

Another paid tribute to Siofra: "So sorry to hear this heartbreaking news. Thoughts and prayers to all of Síofra’s family and friends. May she rest in peace."

A private funeral will take place on Sunday March 7th at 12 noon in Moycullen, there will be a livestream for the mass.
