Heartbroken family and friends have appealed for help to pay for a young dad's funeral.

Now loved ones are desperately trying to raise cash by launching a GoFundMe to help his family.

They said: "As many of you are aware William Wardop passed away tragically on the 22nd of May.

"Unfortunately he has left behind his beautiful fiancée Caitlyn and his two gorgeous little boys, and the rest of his family.

"I would love to raise money to help towards his funeral costs and to help Caitlyn and the boys in any way I possibly can.

"William was one of the nicest boys you could ever meet and he would do anything for anybody no matter who you were, he had an absolute heart of gold.

"My heart goes out to Caitlyn and his full family at this horrible time."

The page has already raised £1,564 in less than 24 hours since being launched.

Loved ones were left devastated after he passed away at Wishaw General Hospital.

They later paid tribute to the young dad.

William's family said: “William was a much loved dad, brother and fiancé who will be sadly missed by us all.

"He will remain forever in our hearts.”

A 23-year-old has now been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance.

Detective Inspector Frank Travers said: “I would like to thank members of the community for their co-operation and assistance during this investigation.”

The 23-year-old arrested man is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 25 May, 2020.
