Heartbroken friends and family leave floral tributes at scene of tragic crash outside Chirton Social Club

Floral tributes have been left for a man who was tragically killed in a car crash outside a North Shields social club.

The collision happened on Silkeys Lane outside Chirton Social Club at around 9.30pm on Friday night.

Police confirmed one person, who has not yet been named, died.

Heartbroken family and friends gathered outside the social club to lay candles, pictures and dozens of flowers for the victim.

One woman wrote: "Miss you already. Good night beautiful."

Another said: "Rest in peace bro, lots of love. It's been a pleasure x" and another read: "Sleep tight".

Northumbria Police spokesperson said an investigation into the collision is ongoing.

The added: "There was possibly up to three people in the vehicle.

"Unfortunately one person died."

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.35pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle outside of Chirton Social Club.

“We sent three resources. 

“There were three patients in total at the scene.

“One ambulance took a patient to the RVI Major Trauma Centre and a second ambulance took a patient or patients to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington.”
