Heartbroken Frankie Edgar says he’s ‘far from done’ after UFC 240 loss to Max Holloway

Frankie Edgar fell short once again in his pursuit for featherweight gold, but he assures everyone that he’s not done yet.

On Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Edgar took on champion Max Holloway at UFC 240 and lost via unanimous decision. That was his third crack at the 145-pound belt as he previously lost twice to Jose Aldo.

After some time to reflect, Edgar (23-7-1 MMA, 17-7-1 UFC) took to Instagram on Monday to further open up about his loss to Holloway (21-4 MMA, 17-4 UFC).

I took a day to travel home and sulk in my sorrows and while my heart is still broken I'm still proud of my performance. I will never be ok with losing but I take solace into losing to a man like Max, a true champion that represents himself, his family, and our sport like no other. I can take this loss like a man and show my children that failing and getting knocked down is ok just as long as we get back to our feet to fight again. I'm far from done but right now I just want to enjoy my family. Thanks to my team for always having me prepared to the fullest, getting ready for Max was a daunting task but yet they had me ready. Thank you to all the fans for their outpouring of love and support through out my career. And special thanks to my Family and my Wife for being my backbone and letting me know what is truly important in this life of mine. ❤️ till the next time…..#Fe

A heartbroken Edgar shared a very sentimental moment post-fight with his youngest son, Santino, in the octagon. In his statement, he credited his coaches and team for getting him prepared to fight Holloway. Edgar pressed the action early, winning Round 1 on two of the three judges’ scorecards.

Throughout his career, former lightweight champion Edgar has bounced back numerous times as he remains one of the top contenders in the division. And he still believes he has a lot left in the tank.
