Heartbroken family's tribute to 'devoted Scots daddy' after sudden death from blood clot

A heartbroken Scots family have paid tribute to a 'devoted daddy' who suddenly died after developing a blood clot.

Kevin Clarke, from Aberdeen, was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Sunday November 28 having been struck down with Covid-19.

But while in hospital, the 37-year-old developed a clot in his leg, which then made its way to his heart.

Sadly, there was nothing that could be and the security worker passed away on Tuesday December 7.

Kevin's family say the clot is not believed to have developed as a result of Covid.

They have paid a heartbreaking tribute to him, saying he was a 'selfless' dad-of-two who will leave a 'void' in their lives.

Wife Bex Clarke told the Daily Record: “Kevin was just such a selfless, funny, loving, devoted daddy.

“He is missed so much, there is definitely a void that will never be filled.

"He video chatted me and the boys that night and he was in good spirits and was talking about moving wards . Then I got a call at about 1am from his mum to say his heart had stopped.

"I'm broken but I have to try to be strong for our babies."

She was joined in sharing memories of Kevin but friends and family, who described his passing as a 'huge shock'.

Bex's aunt Jackie Stewart Brolly said: "Sadly this week my Niece lost her loving partner Kev very suddenly at Aberdeen Royal infirmary the age of only 37, his death has been a huge shock.

“My niece is now left to bring up her two babies.

“This is going to be a very difficult time for her emotionally and financially to deal with.”

While Alex Yacamini added: "Tragic news about a loving, hard working family man.

“Total won't be the same without him around and I know he will be sorely missed by all his family.

A fundraiser has since been launched online to help the family financially through this difficult time. It has already smashed its £2,000 target with £8,2000 raised.

The fundraiser was set up by Kevin’s heartbroken colleagues at TotalEnergies who are hoping to relieve financial pressure from the family.

In their online appeal his colleagues wrote: “Kevin died suddenly leaving his partner Bex and their children Westen and Raylan.

“He was a truly wonderful man and will leave a void in the lives of everyone who knew him.

“The Security team (Securitas) at TotalEnergies will never be the same without his large personality and big heart.

“This page has been created to try and ease the financial worries of his family, every penny donated will go to Bex and the children to help fund the funeral and whatever else they need at this sad time.”
