'Heartbroken' family pay tribute to young man who died after Cardiff incident

A "heartbroken" family have paid tribute to a 22-year-old man who died in an unexplained incident in Cardiff .

Mark Anderson, from Caerau , died following an incident in woodland adjacent to Trelai Park on Monday.

Mr Anderson's family have described him as the "best person you could ever meet" and said the neighbourhood has been left "devastated" by his death.

His mother and father Sonia and James, along with his brother Cain and sisters Jodie and Chloe, issued a statement on Tuesday.

It said: "Mark went to Glyn Derw High School in Ely and enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, rugby, football and motorcycling as well as playing on his Xbox.

“He was very well-known in the area with an amazing group of friends who are always there for each other. He was the best person you could ever meet and the neighbourhood has been devastated by his death.

“Mark had a loving relationship with his family and always got on well with everyone.

“Cain and Mark grew up together and were great friends and had a brilliant relationship.”

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4pm on Monday.

South Wales Police said despite attempts to save Mr Anderson he was pronounced dead shortly after at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Mr Anderson’s sisters said: “If we had any issues or problems we could always go to Mark for support.”

His parents added: “As a family we are heartbroken and now need time to come to terms with our loss.”

Officers are continuing to investigate the unexplained death of Mr Anderson and are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and who may have seen anything which will help them establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
