Heartbroken family pay tribute to much-loved Gateshead biker who died in Dales collision

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved biker who died in a collision in the Dales at the weekend.

Steven Silcock, of Sunniside, Gateshead, was riding his Yamaha motorbike on the B6276, east of Brough in County Durham at the time.

The incident occurred at around 3.45pm, on Sunday, July 18, when he left the road after his motorbike collided with a barrier.

A statement has been issued by the 58-year-old’s family.

It said: “It is with deepest regret that we announce the death of our Steven who was involved in a tragic collision on Sunday.

“He was a much-loved husband, father and grandad who will be deeply missed.

“We wish to thank everyone for their support and ask to be left so that we can grieve in peace.”

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is now under way.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any further information about it should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 331 of July 18.
