A man found dead in Warrington has been named locally as Mark Bradbury.
Police were called to a house on Station Road, Poulton-with-Fearnhead, at 9.56pm on Sunday, following reports of concern for the victim's safety.
Mark, a 58-year-old dad-of-one, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death was initially treated as unexplained but detectives have now launched a murder investigation following a Home Office post mortem.
Today his daughter has released a moving tribute to him.
She said: “Mark was a family man, life and soul of every party, generous and loyal.
"Everyone who knew him is suffering from immense heart ache.
"A lover of sport, dogs and his daughter, Mark will be greatly missed as he is loved.”
Mark's family are being supported by specialist officers at this time.
Cheshire Police say the investigation continues to be in its early stages and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding Mark's death.
Detective Inspector Sarah Oliver, of Cheshire Police's Major Investigation Team, added: “We have been conducting house-to-house enquiries, exploring CCTV and a number of officers remain at the scene.
“There are also local officers in the area to provide reassurance to the community and I would encourage anyone who has any information or concerns to speak to them.”
