Heartbroken family of missing Icelandic man beg for witnesses to come forward

The heartbroken family of Icelandic tourist Jon Jonsson, who went missing in Dublin in February, have made another emotional appeal for his safe return.

Jon, 41, was in the capital to take part in a poker competition at the Bonnington Hotel near Whitehall.

The dad of two left his room on Saturday morning, February 9, after briefly speaking with his fiancee Jana.

Jana today told how their children have been crying at night without their dad, as she appealed for witnesses to come forward.

She added: "If you know something, please, please call the Gardaí and help us find him."

He was seen on CCTV walking in the direction of the Collins Avenue junction of the Swords Road after leaving the hotel.

Jon hasn't been seen since and his younger brother Daniel believes somebody knows what happened to him.

Speaking on RTE's Crimecall, he said: "I’ve no idea what happened to my brother, it doesn't make any sense. But somebody knows.

"It would mean everything to know he’s alive, or if he’s not, to know where he is.

"I’m not going to give up. It’s my objective, to find him."

Jon's partner, who was staying in the hotel at the time, reported him missing to gardai on February 10.

And after his family flew to Dublin, Gardaí, the Civil Defence and other volunteers of the area - but no trace of Jon was found.
