Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have ben left devastated by the death of their beloved dog, Wolf.
The 62-year-old talk show host shared a photo of herself and her 47-year-old actress wife alongside their beloved pooch from their wedding day in August 2008.
The snap saw Ellen and Portia both dressed in white as they celebrated swapping vows in a ceremony – with their fluffy white dog beside them.
Releasing the image on Instagram on Thursday, Ellen expressed her grief over the death of her beloved dog.
She wrote: “Last night we had to say goodbye to our dog Wolf.
“He brought us so much love and joy.
“I hope we did the same for him.”
Friends and fans flooded Ellen’s comments section with condolences and statements of affection to help her through the sad time.
One fan wrote: “Nothing like a fur baby to fill our home and heart with unconditional love. So sorry for your loss.”
While famous friends including Octavia Spencer, Kris Jenner and Courteney Cox posted broken heart emojis.
Animals rights organisation Peta offered support, writing: “Our hearts break for you both. Sending all of our love and comfort.”
Back in 2017, Ellen opened up about her love for dogs – of which she has three others at her Californian mansion home.
She told Good Housekeeping: “They offer unconditional love in ways humans can’t.
“Plus, they don’t talk back. Unless you have one of those dogs who says, ‘I ruv you,’ in which case, please videotape it and send it to my show.”
