Heartbroken Edinburgh owner appeals for information over puppy 'stolen' from Fountainbridge

Update: Police Scotland has confirmed the puppy has been returned to its ower. (22 April 2020)

An Edinburgh puppy owner says she is 'heartbroken' after her pooch was allegedly stolen from a flat in Fountainbridge.

A friend of the owner made an appeal on social media, claiming the puppy was abducted by two people in the stairwell of a flat in Dundee Street.

She took to social media to say: "This pup was stolen from a stair in Dundee Street Edinburgh last week, if you have any information please get in touch the owner is heartbroken."

The picture posted by the owner's friend appears to show a fawn and white staffy-type pup.

According to the post, the "dog just escaped" while the owner was putting on their coat to leave and a "couple" was standing in the stairwell.

One of the people present in the stairwell is described as "a big guy" with a "ginger beard" who was with his partner.

Edinburgh Live have reached out to Police Scotland for comment.
