Heartbroken Edinburgh mum of tragic toddler says son 'watches her from heaven'

The mum of a toddler found dead in Edinburgh last month has thanked kind-hearted locals for helping to raise funeral cash.

Julius Czapla, two, died at flats in the Muirhouse area of the city on Saturday, 21 November.

More than £2,200 has since been raised to cover the costs of his funeral, and a note of thanks from the two-year-old's mum Patrycja said his funeral took place on 18 December in her native Poland.

"Your compassion, donations and words of encouragement show that Julius untimely passing touched the entire community," it read.

The GoFundMe page was set up by family friend Patrycja Njoroge, who said it would remain open to help with living expenses for Julius' mum until she could return to work.

In a message to people who had contributed, Patrycja said: "My baby boy watches over me from heaven as all of you do from here on Earth.

"Words cannot express how grateful I am for your kindness and generosity.
