Heartbroken daughter of landlord allegedly attacked before his death in defibrillator fundraising bid

A devastated daughter is fundraising to install defibrillators near Ibrox stadium after her dad died in his Glasgow pub.

Peter Derrick, 58, from Netherlee in Glasgow , suffered cardiac arrest after he was allegedly attacked in his own pub, Viceroy Bar, on Paisley Road West in July.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University hospital and placed in an induced coma, but died 12 days later.

Daughter Robyn, 27, has launched a fundraising bid to fit life-saving defibrillators from her dad’s pub to Ibrox Stadium in his memory.

She said: “We are all devastated. We’ve been robbed of my dad. He loved his life and lived his life to the fullest.

“He played golf with his friends the night before his life, he was bursting with energy and had so much more to give.

“I want to focus on helping other families. Our family want to give other families a chance.

“A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, and every moment is precious. One minute or five minutes - it makes a big difference.

“If a defibrillator had been there my dad might have recovered, he might have had a life. There are so many families around, it will save lives. It could save anyone.

The Derrick family raised £3,000 at Peter’s funeral to install a defibrillator outside his pub.

They now hope to raise £12,000 and install defibrillators from The Old Toll pub to Ibrox Stadium.

Robyn added: “My dad wouldn’t want us to focus on the negative, he would only want us to concentrate on others.

“This gives us something to focus on as a family.”
