'Heartbroken' Dan Biggar identifies two 2025 Lions starters as he reveals he won't tour again

Dan Biggar is certain he will never play for the Lions again, but he's tipped two team-mates to make the Test team in 2025.

Biggar was left heartbroken by the series defeat in South Africa and his own early exit from the third Test after suffering a shin injury in just the 11th minute.

And the 31-year-old is adamant he won't be around in four years' time, despite the Springboks' Morne Steyn kicking the winning penalty at the age of 37 this time around..

Writing in his MailOnline column, Biggar said: "I feel pretty emotional after that. This was my last tour and it hurts as you know you won’t get another chance.

"I will be watching on the TV come 2025, so I’m heartbroken we didn’t finish it off.

"Irrespective of the result, for me to become a Test Lion and start all three games is pretty special. It’s obviously better if you win it, but I’ll look back on it all with pride. This was a big career goal of mine and now I want to kick on to win 100 Wales caps and some trophies with Northampton."

Looking ahead to the 2025 tour, Biggar believes Wales lock Adam Beard and young Harlequins outside-half Marcus Smith will be key men in Australia.

The pair both impressed in South Africa after being called up to the squad as injury cover, with Beard earning a first Test cap on Saturday.

Addressing the next tour, Biggar said: "I won’t be playing — I guarantee you that. I’ll probably be working in the media, piling into the guys.

"I’m sure a few of the guys out here will be involved. I would be surprised if Marcus Smith and Adam Beard aren’t in the Test team. As a fellow No 10, I’m looking forward to watching Marcus’s career develop.

"He’s a great kid.

"I wouldn’t be surprised if Alun Wyn Jones rocks up for another tour, either!"
