Now, Sarah's dad Andy has thanked the artist known locally as the 'Burley Banksy' after he left a touching tribute near the youngster's school in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

'Burley Banksy' - whose real name is Andy McVeigh - painted over a telephone box in the area using the colour of Leeds United's current away shirt.

'Sarah 8' has been inscribed on the front of the box with numerous love hearts making up the rest of the design.

Taking to Twitter to thank the artist, Andy Emmott wrote: "You've excelled yourself. Love and thanks from Ellie and I."

The post has been liked by more than 1,000 users with many leaving their own tributes to Sarah below the tweet.

Paying tribute to Sarah on Twitter in September, midfielder Kalvin Phillips wrote: "You touched my heart more than you will ever know. I’m so thankful to have met you, your amazing Mum and Dad and your brother Dane as you all became a very special part of my life.

"Your braveness and determination to be the happiest little girl in the room despite everything you were going through is something I will never forget. The world will be a bleaker place without you."

Sarah is survived by her mum Ellie, dad Andrew and big brother Dane.
