'Heartbroken' brother of Leeds woman Kirstie Ellis makes plea over funeral costs to give her 'amazing burial'

The family of Kirstie Ellis, whose death is now at the centre of a murder investigation, are asking for donations to help towards funeral costs.

Kirstie's body was found at a home in Stanhall Mews, Stanningley, on Friday, March 25. West Yorkshire Police launched a murder investigation and revealed Kirstie's body had likely been in the property for a number of weeks before it was found.

The 35-year-old's family want to give Kirstie the 'best send off possible after the way her life was tragically stolen from her.'

Kirstie's brother, Stephen Ellis, 36, said: "We would like to raise money to help with funeral costs because of the tragic circumstances we would love to give her a good send off so she can have at least have some closure.

"After the terrible experiences Kirstie had in her final moments after being tragically murdered, we would like to ensure that she has an amazing burial so she may be laid to rest peacefully and that her family has somewhere to visit her, talk to her and make peace with her.

Kirstie's heart-broken family paid tribute to her, saying: "She was an amazingly funny, witty and loving woman, she spent the majority of her life in Bradford, growing up primarily in Buttershaw and then later moved on to spend time living in Leeds.

"She was well known for her heart of gold, and the massive amounts of love that she showed to the people around her and the strangers she met.

"She did not deserve this, the way she was treated and the way she died, all we can hope now is to get justice for Kirstie and give her the funeral she deserves."
