‘Heartbroken!’ ‘Big mistake!’ - Chelsea fans gutted as £25m Fikayo Tomori deal confirmed

Chelsea fans have been left disappointed after Fikayo Tomori’s move to AC Milan was confirmed this afternoon.

The former Blues youth academy prospect departs for the San Siro having spent the second half of last season on loan at the club. He impressed enough for the Italian giants to bring Tomori back to the club, with Chelsea having received a fee of £25m.

There could be due another £5m worth of add-ons depending on how he performs with Milan. The defender has signed a four-year deal with the Serie A outfit.

Confirmation of the deal brings to an end Tomori’s long stint with Chelsea, having begun his career within the academy.

Joining the Blues at the age of eight, he progressed through the various age groups before making his first-team debut in 2016.

The 23-year-old was sent out on various Championship loans with Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City and Derby County before returning to Stamford Bridge with Frank Lampard.

In the end, he was handed 27 outings for the Chelsea first-team, with some supporters bemoaning the club’s decision to sell. And those fans took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to express their thoughts.

With Tomori having now departed Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are thought to be set to use the transfer fee received to finance a move for Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi.

The centre-back might not be the only one set to move to Serie A this summer though. Olivier Giroud and Hakim Ziyech have both been linked with AC Milan, whilst Emerson Palmieri is thought to be interesting Inter Milan.
