The moment a little boy is discovered wondering alone on a busy residential street has been captured in harrowing footage.

The tearful toddler, thought to be around two years of age, was found roaming along a pavement in Hull without any parents in sight.

In the footage, the child is seen holding the hand of a man who noticed the tot walking on his own on Saturday afternoon, reports Hull live.

The little boy was then taken by police while they attempted to locate his parents (Hull Live)

The scared boy is seen standing close to the man's own young son while the police arrive.

The footage shows the moment the police arrive to take care of the little boy and attempt to find his relatives.

After a brief pause he walks over to the officer who then picks him up.

In an unedited version of the clip, the police officer can be heard asking the boy where he lives, but he cries in response.

The boy is then placed in a police van with an officer while they try and establish how the boy came to be wandering the streets alone.

It was later revealed the boy had managed to escape from a house in the local area and was luckily found by the passer-by just a short time afterwards.

It is understood the boy's relatives have now been located.
