Heartbreaking tributes flow as young man tragically killed in Finglas accident named

A young man tragically killed in a workplace accident in north Dublin on Wednesday morning has been named.

Shane Bellew-Reilly, 23, from Moneymore in Drogheda was pronounced dead following an accident at Panda Waste on Cappagh Road in Finglas at around 9am.

Tributes have flown in for the "wonderful young man".

One said: "This is just heartbreaking, the poor chap taken too soon. Thinking of all his family & friends. RIP."

Another posted: "So heartbreaking to hear this news today, a wonderful young man with a smile to greet everyone. R.I.P Shane."

Gardai say the Health and Safety Authority have been notified and that investigations are ongoing.

They said: "Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a workplace accident at a business premises on Cappagh Road, Finglas, Dublin 11 this morning Wednesday 18th August, 2021.

"A man, aged 23 years, was fatally injured during the incident; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The Health and Safety Authority (HAS) have been notified.

"No further update is available at this time. Investigations are ongoing."
