This is the heartbreaking moment an unwanted dog chases after its owners after it was dumped at an animal shelter.
CCTV footage at the shelter shows a four-by-four vehicle reversing and almost hitting the dog.
As it accelerates towards the gate, the dog trots alongside the car - seemingly unaware of what is happening.
The car then leaves the premises and the dog continues to chase after the car, before eventually being left abandoned.
It happened at the Animal Rescue Fund of MS in Jackson, Mississippi.
Even worse, the centre said the dog hadn't been found after it failed to return to the shelter.
It was one of three dogs dumped there in the space of a day.
The shelter wrote on its Facebook page: “3 dogs in one day were dumped at our shelter! We are frantically looking one that escaped with its owners literally following them right after they opened the door and let it loose.
“The other two are safe and secure and at the vet. The two that were left together we believe were there overnight but will check videos after we find the lost victim of neglect that is on the run.”
