Heartbreaking last words girl, 12, said to devastated mum

The mum of a 12 year old girl who died earlier this month has recalled the horrifying last words she ever spoke to her.

Rachel Halliwell says the last words her daughter Semina said to her were that she had been raped.

Her mum said Semina was also being bullied online on a daily basis.

Rachel says her daughter was "traumatised" after reporting being groomed and raped.

Semina, from Southport, died on June 12, after spending four nights in hospital.

Her mum told the ECHO : "She was a fighter. She survived three heart attacks.

"She was put into a coma on the Friday. The very last words my baby said to me before they put her in a coma was that she was raped."

Semina's tragic case was raised at a parliamentary committee this on Wednesday, when Labour MP Apsana Begum asked Education Secretary Gavin Williamson what more can be done to help protect children from sexual harassment and abuse.

Ms Begum said: "I wanted to highlight the case of Semina who was 12 years old who disclosed that she'd been raped, and has committed suicide last week."

Rachel had reported the rape case to the police and it was being investigated.

She added: "Semina was so beautiful, and so funny. She loved singing and dancing.

"She had been asked by model agencies to work for them but she wasn't confident enough. She didn't see how beautiful she was.

"She was loving and caring, and loved her brothers Rafy and Jorge so much, and she was so loved by friends and family, far and wide.

"I am heartbroken beyond words. There is a void in my heart that can never be filled."

Tributes have poured in for Semina with one person writing: "So heart-breaking. Thinking of all the family at this terrible time."

Another wrote: "No words. May angels wings wrap softly around you whilst you fly high beautiful Semina. You are the brightest star in heaven."

It was echoed in a similar comment: "This is utterly heart-breaking to hear about, our thoughts, love and prayers are with all the family."

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm we are investigating an allegation of rape in Southport in February this year.

"A report was received on 23 March that a 12-year-old girl had been raped at an address in Southport on 25 February.

"An investigation was launched and a juvenile has voluntarily attended a police station for interview.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

"Anyone who wants to report a rape or sexual offence allegation is asked to call 101 where you will be spoken to by specially trained officers, or you can pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"Support for victims is also available through the registered charity the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre Cheshire and Merseyside, who can be contacted on 01925 221 546 or 0330 363 0063 or Rape and Sexual Assault Merseyside (RASA) on 0151 558 1801."
