Heartbreaking final words of Dublin dad-of-seven as tributes pour in for 'lovely chap'

The niece of an Irish dad-of-seven who tragically died on Tuesday morning in Dublin has paid a touching online tribute.

Gareth Kelly, 39, died after an early-morning incident in the Brownsbarn Wood estate in Kingswood, West Dublin.

And his niece Caoimhe hailed the hard-working dad-of-seven and revealed his heartbreaking final words to his partner.

She said: "He is a father of seven who would do anything and fight to the end of the earth for his children.

"He worked two jobs to support his family and always put his children above all else.

"[The incident] took a dad away from seven children, a son away from his parents and a brother away from his siblings.

"His son turns one next week and his daughter soon makes her confirmation. They won’t ever see their dad again.

"His final words to his partner were that he loved her and that he wanted pancakes for his lunch.

"The world can be a scary dangerous place but no one should have to tell their children that their daddy isn’t coming home from work ever again."

The family are also hoping to raise funds for Mr Kelly's funeral costs, as he didn't have insurance.

A GoFundMe site has been set up in the hope of raising €5,000.

Caoimhe added: "Garreth unfortunately wasn’t covered by insurance so if anyone can donate even a euro or two towards funeral expenses and support for his partner and children in this hard time as they try to recuperate and deal with their grief without the added financial stress it would mean the world to my family and I."
