Heartbreak over man found dead in Wirral woodland

Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to a man found dead in Wirral woodland.

Robert Bigland, from Moreton, went missing on Tuesday at around 2pm and police appealed for help finding him as they grew increasingly concerned about his whereabouts.

Officers searching for Mr Bigland yesterday confirmed they had found the 40-year-old's body in woodland close to Pasture Road at around 12.55pm on Wednesday.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

Commenting on the ECHO website, one user scorpio92 said: "RIP Bert, we had some good times with the Wellington and Towers Sunday League teams."

Sayitasitis782 commented: "Absolutely heartbreaking. I was hoping this man would be found safe. RIP Mr Bigland. Condolences to the man's family and friends."

On the ECHO Facebook page, Julia Cooke said: "These tragic deaths seem to be happening all too often at the moment. Sincere condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace."
