There’s been no happy ever after for the Disney Store in Leeds as it has now closed for the final time.
We’d previously brought you news of the White Rose Shopping Centre branch’s plans to close. It was put forward as part of an online shopping focus from Mickey Mouse and his team.
The White Rose branch shut its doors for the final time on Sunday with lots of loyal customers left disappointed.

Posting on Facebook, a former employee, Calum Martin, said: “I’ve been lucky enough to work for Disney for four years, in Aberdeen, Leeds and Orlando, and the memories I’ve made will last a lifetime.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with the most incredible, unforgettable and caring people you could ever meet. I owe it to every one of you I’ve met over the years for making me the person I am today.

“It’s been an absolute blast, and while it’s heartbreaking to see our store and most other stores closing, I know I’ll look back on my time at Disney with nothing but amazing memories.”
When we first brought you news of the Disney Store’s closure in Leeds we approached for comment to explain the decision.
“While consumer behaviour has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer,” said Stephanie Young, president for consumer products games and publishing.
“Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world.
“We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected ecommerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”
