Heartbreak as 'hero' worker at Glasgow Royal Infirmary dies from coronavirus

A 'hero' healthcare assistant who worked at Glasgow Royal Infirmary has died from coronavirus.

The frontline worker, believed to be a male medical assistant in his early forties, passed away on Tuesday after losing his battle with the virus, reports the Daily Record.

Colleagues have paid tribute to the "true hero", saying that a “river of tears” were flowing in the NHS community as a result of his passing.

They also said that their colleague, who is understood to have worked for some time in Older People's Services, was in good health when he contracted the virus.

Among the tributes was one from a co-worker who said that his colleague's death would serve as a reminder to Covid-19 “conspiracy” theorists of the dangers frontline workers face.

And another colleague, said: "You will be missed. A true hero".
