Heartbreak as 21-year-old Waterford woman found dead by walkers named locally

A 21-year-old woman who was found dead by walkers in Co Waterford has been named locally as Alice O'Keeffe.

Gardai have launched an investigation after Alice's body was found by walkers in the Ferrybank area of the county shortly after 4pm on Saturday.

Officers said emergency services rushed to the scene after they were alerted by people strolling through the area.

A notice posted on RIP.ie reads that Alice "will be sadly missed by her loving parents Patrick and Sharon, her sisters Samantha, Fiona and Charlotte, brothers Kevin and Patrick, uncle John, aunties Charmaine and Jacqueline, extended family, nephews, niece, cousins, relatives and her many friends.

The coroner has been notified. While a post mortem is to take place it is believed that officers do not currently suspect foul play.

Tragic Alice O'Keeffe (RIP.ie)

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted following the discovery of the body of woman (21) shortly after 4pm on Saturday 3rd July 2021.

"The alarm was raised by people walking in the area at the time.

"Her body was removed to the mortuary at WUH where a post-mortem will be carried out.

"The Coroner has been notified."

No details have yet been announced for tragic Alice’s funeral.

It's reported that Alice has family living in the UK.
