Heartbreak after man found dead on Merseyside train tracks

The discovery of a man's body on a Merseyside train line has been met with sadness.

British Transport Police said officers attended Roby railway station, Knowsley, at 6.46pm yesterday, on Thursday, October 21.

When emergency services arrived on the scene they found a casualty on the tracks.

North West Ambulance Service also attended to provide treatment but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now ECHO readers have reacted with sadness to the news.

Louisa Robinson said: "Knew this poor lad feel sick."

Malcolm Burrows said: "Poor soul such a sad loss."

Janine Garvey said: "Thinking of his family."

Janna Valentine said: "This is so so sad."

Karen Corrie said: "Rip so sad condolences to his family."

Paula Flynn said: "Heart breaking."

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "[We] were called to Roby railway station at 6.46pm yesterday, October 21, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Huyton were cancelled on the line while the incident was dealt with by emergency services.

Services between Wigan, Liverpool and Manchester Oxford Road were also disrupted and delayed.
