'Heart-wrenching sight' Dog coffin unburied at Scots pet cemetery sparks frantic appeal for owner

A dog's coffin has been unburied at a Scots pet cemetery sparking a frantic appeal for the owner.

The 'heart-wrenching sight' of the black dog was spotted yesterday by a concerned walker at ICare Pet Crematorium in Whitburn.

After failing to re-bury the dog they are now hoping to find the owner and delivery the grim news.

They believe a fox could be the reason the pet was uncovered at the Bathgate cemetery.

It was found near a box with 'Marley 23.1.21 9 years old, we will miss you' written on the outside with blue pen.

The good Samaritan who found the tragic dog is asking anyone with links to the pet cemetery to be on alert.

Posting on Facebook Selina Kim Vickerman-Prince said: "Sensitive message about the Pet Cemetary in Whitburn.

"We have come across the heart-wrenching sight of a black dog in the pet cemetery that appears to have been dug up by perhaps a fox.

"We are unable to re-bury it and are consequently trying to locate its owner.

"The dog has no identification and has bandage on leg due to perhaps intravenous drip.

"Please could you let us know if you may be the owner.

"If you would like to share you can do so from my Facebook page. Once the owner has been found we will update accordingly."
