Hearse driver pulled over on the M6 was found driving without insurance

A funeral hearse driver was pulled over on the M6 and found to be driving without insurance.

Traffic cops joked that the driver had "not been undertaking" after pulling them over on the motorway near services in Wolverhampton, during a "dead busy" shift.

The Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) shared the story on its Twitter account after reporting the driver.

They wrote: “This Vauxhall Vectra Hearse was stopped on the M6 near to Hilton Services as it didn’t have any insurance.

“Thankfully it was unladen and wasn’t undertaking. Anyways, it’s a dead busy day for us so we’re off to catch the next one. Driver reported."

Their followers were quick to join in with the jokes after the force posted a photo of the hearse pulled over on the side of the road.

Stan Paris wrote: “A vectra hearse? Who knew that was a thing. I wouldn’t be seen dead in one of those!”

Steve Hill said: “Good job he didn’t leave you for dust.”

Robert Parr quipped "probably thinks the fine and six points are a bit stiff" while Ken Jones put: "He'll be coffin up a few quid in fines then!"

Sean Bullock added: "Sorry:...Vauxhall...Vectra....Hearse. As if funerals weren’t depressing enough!"
