Hearing set for man accused of threatening Ohio State vs. Michigan game

I have to admit, this one flew below the radar for me, but we were reminded of how crazy fans — and this world is in general is — by news that surfaced Tuesday. According to ESPN, a man that threatened to “shoot up” the Ohio State campus and hurt players during the Ohio State vs. Michigan game in 2018 had his first hearing on the matter scheduled today.

According to the report, Daniel Rippy made an “electronic communication” threat from California during the Ohio State’s 62-39 victory over Michigan in 2018.

“I’m seriously going to hurt the students and all of the players from the football team,” Rippy communicated according to the indictment ESPN reported on.

The man is claiming innocence, but is set to appear before Judge Algenon Marbley in Columbus Friday after he was arrested and sent to the Buckeye state last month.

What a crazy story, and we’ll have more on this as further news makes itself available.
