Ever wondered what to do with that old plastic cluttering up the house? There's a man in West Yorkshire who would love to hear from you. Graham Wiles of Sowerby Bridge has a machine which gobbles up any plastic except PVC, ruminates on it for a while, and spits it out as a planter box, garden bench, bollard, or railway sleeper. Chuck in the odd car tyre and it will extrude a non-slip cycle track. Howard Stableford explains it all in Changing Places (4.30pm, Radio 4).
Radio 3 launches its very own heat-seeking missile with the inaugural edition of its arts talk show, lebrecht.live (7.0pm, Radio 3). (This being radio, it's important to signal your street cred through typography.) Norman Lebrecht is Culture's version of Norman Tebbit, and quite as charming. His opening topic is whether Britain's audiences get anything like value for money. To broaden the discussion, the programme is available simultaneously on the internet.
