Hear the noise as Newcastle United fans welcome the team back to St James' Park against Norwich

It might be another summer of frustration so far but Newcastle United fans have given the team a warm welcome back to St James' Park.

The Magpies saved their return home for their final pre-season fixture against Premier League rivals Norwich City on Saturday.

Thousands took their place in the stands for the first time since Covid-19 restrictions were fully lifted on stadium attendances.

St James' Park welcomed 10,000 fans for the final home fixture against Sheffield United in May, but Saturday's fixture was the first time all capacity limitations had been removed.

United have been well-supported on the road in recent friendlies at York City, Doncaster Rovers, and Rotherham United.

Fans continued this tend on Saturday as the Magpies starting eleven were applauded out on to the field ahead of their final friendly.

Steve Bruce named a strong starting eleven ahead of next weekend's opening Premier League fixture against West Ham.

Miguel Almiron, Joelinton, and Callum Wilson were all handed starts, while Freddie Woodman continued to deputise in the absence of Karl Darlow and Martin Dubravka.
