Hear'Say singer Noel Sullivan has piled on pounds for latest stage role and he looks so different

Fans remember him as the baby-faced vocalist from the original reality pop band Hear'Say - but today Noel Sullivan looks a lot different after putting on two stones.

Noel, 39, appeared on This Morning to talk about his time in the band and discuss his latest theatre role in School of Rock.

And it's the role in the stage musical that has prompted his fuller frame - Noel plays Jack Black’s character Dewey Finn - and it seems he’s taking the part very seriously.

Host Eamonn Holmes began the interview with a pop at the singer’s weight: "You may think Noel has aged a bit, but you've also specifically had to put on weight for this role.

"You've had to feed yourself up by two stone."

Noel agreed and explained that he decided to take the plunge because the script referenced his character as being 'fat'.

When asked whether he could have worn a fat suit, he said: "No, it would have looked really weird. It's live."

Noel shot to fame in 2001 when he auditioned for Hear'Say on ITV's reality TV show Popstars and was picked alongside Danny Foster, Suzanne Shaw, Myleene Klass and Kym Marsh, the Manchester Evening News reports.

The group shot to the top of the charts with Pure and Simple, but split just a year later after Kym - who now plays Michelle Connor in Coronation Street - left the band.

Noel isn’t the first actor to pile on the pounds for a role - Renee Zellweger famously put on more than stone for her role in the Bridget Jones films.

When Eamonn asked about what would happen if he couldn’t lose the weight, Noel didn’t seem too bothered.

He replied: "I'll worry about it then, it's all about the pizza right now."
