Hakuho easily kept his record perfect at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on Thursday.

The Mongolian, back in the raised ring after injuries forced him to miss all of the Spring basho and part of the New Year tourney, beat No. 3 maegashira Daieisho (0-5) with an overarm throw in a quick match that secured a 5-0 start.

In the day's final bout, yokozuna Kakuryu, who suffered his first loss at the tourney in Wednesday's bout against Shohozan (1-4), easily slapped No. 2 maegashira Abi (1-4) to the surface to improve to 4-1.

In other action, sekiwake Ichinojo suffered his first defeat, as komusubi Endo (3-2) outlasted the massive Mongolian.

Ichinojo was driven to the bales, but pushed his opponent back to the center of the ring and tried an overarm throw. Endo, though, eventually forced out the fatigued Ichinojo (4-1).

Sekiwake Tochinoshin also forced out No. 1 maegashira Kaisei (0-5) to keep his record perfect, while ozeki Goeido pushed out No. 3 maegashira Yutakayama (0-5) to collect his third win.
