The Southern Health and Social Care Trust has shared its appreciation for a team of midwives who "worked tirelessly" to safely deliver eight babies in one night.
The team at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry put their expectant mothers first in the early hours of October 21 after the unexpected arrival of a number of mums who were going into labour at the same time.
The Southern Trust took to social media to share a post dedicated to the twelve women who were part of the midwifery team that night to thank them for ensuring these mothers and their babies had the best start in life.
Taking to Facebook, they said: "Well done to our dedicated midwifery team at Daisy Hill who rose to the challenge and delivered exceptional care with the unexpected arrival of a number of women whose babies all decided to come at the same time during the early hours of 21st October!
"Thank you to all of those who came into work and those who stayed on after their shift and worked tirelessly throughout the night to make sure the eight babies and their mummies were so well looked after!"
Their post has received over 2K likes and almost 200 comments with people sharing their application for the team at Daisy Hill and the midwives in the photo.
One comment said: "My baby was born that night in Daisy Hill and it was an emergency situation with a sick baby, only for [name] I don't think I could have made it through.. such care and compassion even just to hold my hand when nobody else was allowed to be there! Cannot thank you enough [name], you went above and beyond your job that night."
