The Health Secretary Matt Hancock has joined the Prime Minister Boris Johnson in testing positive for coronavirus.
Earlier today it was confirmed that Mr Johnson had tested positive for COVID-19 and has developed mild symptoms for the virus.
Now it has been revealed that the Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, has also been diagnosed with the disease.
This means the two figures leading the country's battle against the spread of coronavirus are both now infected and must work in isolation.
Mr Hancock has announced the news on twitter.
He said: "Following medical advice, I was advised to test for #Coronavirus. I‘ve tested positive.
"Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m working from home & self-isolating. Vital we follow the advice to protect our NHS & save lives."
In a video he said: "I've been working from home for the last couple of days because everyone who can work from home should do.
"I've also had some mild symptoms of coronavirus and on medical advice I've been tested and that test was positive so I'll be self-isolating until Thursday.
"Fortunately the symptoms so far have been very mild so I've been able to carry on with the work driving the country's response."
He went on to thank all those working in the NHS and social care for helping the battle against the virus.
He added: "I'll be continuing to do everything I can to get our carers the support they need and I'll be doing that from here but with no less gusto."
