Health officials in P.E.I. report province's fourth COVID-19-related death

CHARLOTTETOWN — A fourth person has died of COVID-19 in Prince Edward Island. 

Chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison said Friday the person was between the ages of 60 and 79.  

Morrison said she was deeply saddened by the death and offered her condolences.  

She reported 267 new COVID-19 cases and 309 recoveries, resulting in 2,429 active cases.  

Over the last seven days, the Island has averaged 253 new cases per day. 

Morrison said there were eight people hospitalized with COVID-19, including one person in intensive care. She said there were two other people admitted in hospital for non-COVID-19 reasons but who had tested positive.
